Princess Kate's brother has set the record straight on his "family life" in a new statement.

James Middleton is celebrating his 38th birthday today and took to Instagram with a heartfelt message.

He wrote: "Thank you, 38. I’m right where I’m meant to be. There is no better birthday present than that.

"Fresh air, wagging tails, and the wild, beautiful rhythm of family life."

James mentioned his one-year-old son, Inigo, writing: "Moving in sync, tails wagging. On a journey, with Inigo at the wheel, headed wherever life takes us.

"Filled with joy, love and just the right amount of chaos."

The Instagram statement accompanied a video featuring James's wife, Alizee Thevenet, and their son, Inigo.

The pair could be seen in the Berkshire countryside where the family lives, alongside James's dogs and chickens.

Inigo was wearing a child's Gilet emblazoned with the words: "JAMES & ELLA", named after the 38-year-old's freeze-dried raw dog food company.

Ella was the name of James's late dog, whom he credits with saving his life.

James recently opened up about growing up as the younger brother of Princess Kate and Pippa Matthews.

"I jokingly say that I had three mothers growing up. I had my mother and my two sisters, who were mothering figures to me," James told Hello.
