The 37-year-old has spoken publicly about struggles with notoriety in the past

James Middleton, the younger brother of the Princess of Wales, has spoken out about celebrity fame.

The father-of-one admitted he is unsure if people recognise him in the public sphere.

James said: “I don’t know if I’m recognised often on holidays.

“I don’t put myself in the category of being a celebrity, as I’m essentially known by default.”

He continued to tell The Times: “But people sometimes reach out to me on social media to say they’ve seen me with the dogs.”

James and his wife, Alizée Thevenet, have six dogs, Mabel, Nala, Zulu, Inka, Isla and Luna.

He added: “I think they recognise the dogs first, to be honest.

“They get recognised more than I do.”

The pair, who married in 2021, share a 15-month-old son named Inigo.

James has previously credited his dog for helping him over the years with his mental health.

The 37-year-old also reflected on how the Middleton family gatherings have evolved since he and his siblings, Pippa and the Princess of Wales, have all become parents themselves.

Writing for The Sunday Times, James reminisced about family holidays from his childhood years.

Staying in the UK, the Lake District held particular significance for the Middleton family, where they holidayed in cottages near Coniston Water and Windermere.

James wrote: "It's a very special place for us as a family, and the adventures we'd get up to as kids - from rock climbing on the crags to exploring the caves - were like something from The Famous Five."

He credits these family trips as helping forge the close bonds that continue to define the Middleton siblings' relationship today.

Now as parents themselves, James revealed that the Middleton siblings prioritise family gatherings to ensure their children spend quality time together.

The siblings "always make sure that we spend time as a wider family so that the cousins get to spend time together, especially around Christmas," he shared.

The family bond was on display during Kate's recent carol service at Westminster Abbey.
