The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK tomorrow to attend the WellChild Awards, a charity close to the royal's heart

Prince Harry's solo return to the UK in honour of the WellChild Awards is continuing his "professional separation" from wife Meghan Markle, it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex will be back in his homeland to attend the awards ceremony on Monday, but as reports suggest, he has requested for the location of the event to be "kept private".

Following a string of solo engagements in New York, Prince Harry's recent outings have sparked questions about his professional relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.

Speaking to GB News, former Royal Correspondent at the Sun Charles Rae noted it is "interesting" to see Harry embarking on more "royal engagements" without Meghan, both in New York and the UK.

Rae explained: "It's interesting, we're now seeing in effect a separation - not of their marriage, but of their work and work duties.

"You've got Harry doing a few of what we would consider to be royal jobs or royal visits, whereas Meghan is still at home. I don't know what she's doing, whether she's working on podcasts or everything else, but it's interesting."

Noting Meghan's continued distance from the UK amid her decision not to join Prince Harry at the WellChild Awards on Monday, Rae suggested that the Duchess may "never return to the UK again".

Rae told GB News: "In terms of Meghan, I'm of the school that does not believe that Meghan will ever return to this country.

"And by implication, it means that the children, unless they're much older, will not be back in this country for the for the foreseeable future."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Claiming that following her last visit in 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, Rae claimed that Meghan has had "plenty of opportunities" to accompany Harry back to British soil since.

Rae added: "She's had plenty of ways that she could return with the Duke of Sussex, and she's decided that she doesn't want to. She's made one stop over in this country at an airport when Harry was here, he picked her up at the airport, and they flew off for some sort of royal visit.

"But, no, I don't believe that she ever wants to come back to this country, which is a great pity. But she's made her bed, she wants to lie in it, and she's going to carry on staying in California."

Turning the discussion to the Royal Family, host Ben Leo questioned Rae on whether he believes the Duke will reach out to his father King Charles or brother Prince William during his visit to the UK.

Rae cast doubt over any possible reconciliation, explaining: "I don't think he'll be catching up with his father because he is in Balmoral with the Queen. And I doubt very much that he is going to be flying up there.

"I don't know how long Harry is going to be in this country, I suspect it's another one of these flying visits, and so I doubt very much if we'll be seeing his brother."

Rae continued: "I'm not sure if there's going to be a welcome party apart from those people at WellChild, but he's perfectly entitled to come back at any time that he wants. It's a great charity, and I'm glad to see that he's still linked with it.

"It helps them having him as an ambassador, a mascot if you like - it helps with fundraising and everything else."
