The Duchess of Edinburgh is claimed to have been tempted to take a puppy home during her visit to the Yellow Labrador Club at Windsor Great Park.
Sophie, 60, spent Tuesday afternoon enjoying gun dog demonstrations, tea and puppy cuddles as she met with club members.
Club honorary secretary Sussie Wiles joked that they "had to watch carefully that she didn't sneak one in her pocket".
The duchess was particularly taken with a fox-red, nine-week-old puppy that was "definitely heading for her handbag".

During her visit, the duchess was welcomed by members before taking a walk around the grounds of Windsor Great Park.
She viewed club memorabilia and was introduced to the various dogs in attendance.
The royal visitor also participated in a gun dog demonstration, even trying her hand at sending dogs to find hidden dummies.
Wiles described it as "a really lovely afternoon" where they "enjoyed a nice afternoon tea and got to know each other a little bit better".

Sophie impressed members by showing she was "very good" at handling the dogs during the demonstrations.
The Yellow Labrador Club was founded in 1924 and promotes the breeding and training of pure yellow labrador retrievers.
The Duchess of Edinburgh serves as the club's patron, following in the royal footsteps of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.
Sophie has three dogs of her own – two black labradors named Teal and Teasel, and a working cocker spaniel called Mole.

Wiles said it is "great to have her on board" as a patron of the organisation.
The labradors reportedly greeted their royal visitor "with a lot of enthusiasm".
Wiles praised the duchess for her relaxed and down-to-earth demeanour during the visit, she said: "She really put us at ease and it was lovely to have her as part of our group." None of us felt awkward, she made us all feel very much at ease."
"She said she wants to be very much involved in our events in the future so we will have to keep her updated on what we do. That's a lovely aspect that she really wants to take part and make a difference."
