During her visit, the Duchess met with researchers and witnessed their groundbreaking work in action, as noted by the Palace on the Royal Family's official Instagram account.
The social media post shared details about Sophie's tour of the facility, writing: "The Duchess of Edinburgh, as Royal Patron, has visited a dementia research laboratory in Edinburgh, founded by @RacingDementia .
"The charity funds early-career researchers to drive progress towards a cure for dementia."

This social media post comes after Sophie, 60, was "chomping at the bit" to take on more responsibilities, according to the Sun.
Royal author Phil Damier told the outlet: “Sophie has done superbly on recent jobs here and abroad and has become a star performer and should be given the opportunity to do more."
As Royal Patron of the charity, the Duchess had the opportunity to see firsthand the innovative approaches being developed to combat dementia.
The collaboration between scientists and industry leaders exemplifies the charity's commitment to applying fresh perspectives to dementia research.

Sophie also met with Dr Claire Durrant and her team, who are investigating the causes and consequences of synapse loss in Alzheimer's disease.
Dr Durrant works with live human brain slice cultures, which would otherwise be discarded during routine neurosurgical procedures.
Race Against Dementia was founded by Sir Jackie Stewart in 2016 after his wife, Helen, was diagnosed with dementia.
