A new Danish series about Queen Margrethe II will begin filming in 2025

Denmark is set to have its own version of The Crown, centred on Queen Margrethe II's life.
The hit Netflix show based on the British Royal Family was very popular with fans, which ran for seven years on the streaming platform.
Now there is set to be a TV series about the recently abdicated Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
The series, which will be called By the Grace of God, is being produced by Sam Productions and will air on the Danish channel TV 2.

Margrethe will be the focal point of the fictional series, which will begin in the year of her birth in 1940.
The show "will embrace the Royal Family for better or for worse, on the hard floors and in the political dilemmas, but above all, it is a story about a girl and her family", according to the press release.
It continued: "She was born as a light in the darkness and became a symbol of hope and unity in an occupied Denmark.
"She was born a princess, but as a young teenager also became heir to the throne.

Similarly to The Crown, the Danish programme will explore the lives of other royals as well as Queen Margrethe.
According to the producer Meta Louise Foldager Sørensen, fans can look forward to seeing new sides of Margrethe II and her path to the throne.
She said: "Now is the time to tell the magnificent story, which can give us an insight we haven't had before."

As of now, there are no actors yet attached to the project.
Frederik and Mary became the King and Queen of Denmark on Sunday, January 14, after Margrethe II abdicated after 52 years on the throne.
