Buckingham Palace has provided a new update on King Charles and his plans to leave the UK.

The Palace has outlined that the monarch and Queen Camilla will carry out international engagements in Italy next month.


Royal sources have said the King is gearing up for the Italian State Visit which will take place in early April.

Additionally, GB News understands the King will undertake the majority of his usual duties this week.

Princess Anne visited her brother King Charles at Clarence House on Friday morning, following his brief hospital stay.

The King, 76, had been admitted to hospital on Thursday due to side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment.

The monarch was forced to cancel all his planned engagements in Birmingham as a result of the medical episode.

The Princess Royal was seen leaving the residence in a black Bentley shortly before the King departed.

The royal siblings are known to share an exceptionally close bond.

Despite his recent health concerns, Charles appeared in high spirits on Friday morning.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace's announcement that the King required "a short period of observation in hospital" and released a full statement regarding the monarch's health.

"Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital," the statement read.

"His Majesty's afternoon engagements were therefore postponed. His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow's diary programme will also be rescheduled."

The Palace added that the King was "greatly disappointed" to miss his Birmingham engagements and "hopes that they can be rescheduled in due course."
