Buckingham Palace has placed the spotlight on Princess Anne as the hardest-working royal amid King Charles and Princess Kate's health battles.

The social media team behind the Royal Family's official X (formerly Twitter) account placed the spotlight on the Princess Royal's hard work today.

They wrote: "It’s been a busy day for The Princess Royal, who has presented so many worthy honours!

"Recipients included: Football coach and former player Christopher Powell MBE, for services to Association Football.

"Former Children’s Laureate and Writer Joseph Coelho OBE, for services to the Arts, to Children’s Reading and to Literature.

"Nick Owen MBE for services to Broadcasting and Charity."

Princess Anne, 74, is regularly referred to as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family.

In 2023, she carried out 457 engagements, which is more than one event per day.

She often carries out multiple engagements in one day.

In addition, the 74-year-old carried out 172 engagements in the first quarter of 2024, which was almost double the number of any other working royal.

The Princess Royal also took on foreign state duties that would normally fall to the King or his heir earlier this year when she travelled to The Netherlands.

Both the King, 75, and the Princess of Wales, 42, were diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and temporarily stepped back from royal duties.

This led to an increased workload for Princess Anne, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

However, Princess Anne also suffered her own health crisis when she endured a blow to the head from a horse on her Gatcombe Park estate in June.

This saw the mother-of-two remain in hospital for five nights before being discharged.
