A source has claimed the Sussexes might not be joining the rest of the Royal Family at Balmoral

King Charles will miss out on seeing his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet amid tension with Prince Harry.

The Firm will be making their way to Scotland next month for their royal summer holiday, to spend family time together in the Highlands.

There had been some rumours that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could join them, and bring their children along too to help build a bond with Harry's family.

However, a source close to the Sussexes told The Daily Express that it is unlikely, despite the fact the King wants to build a relationship with Archie and Lilibet.

The source said: "Charles really does want to build a better relationship with Archie and Lili and spend quality time with them. So it's possible that the Sussexes might go alone at the end of the summer just before the King returns to London, but it's highly unlikely given the current tensions."

"The most likely option is for the King to keep in contact with his grandchildren via Skype calls so that he doesn't lose touch with what they're getting up to."

"Harry and Meghan will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family in August.

"The King is keen for it to be a happy family occasion which will see members of the Royal Family come together for just over a week to discuss plans for the future and to unwind."

It comes as Prince Harry faces a months-long wait to learn whether their cases will be part of a trial in their legal action against the publisher of The Sun.

Harry, 39, alleges he was targeted by journalists and private investigators working for News Group Newspapers (NGN), which also published the now-defunct News Of The World.

He is among a number of people to bring cases against the publisher, with a full trial of some of the cases due to be held at the High Court in January 2025.

The publisher has previously denied unlawful activity took place at The Sun.

Over the weekend, Prince Harry received the Pat Tillman Award for Service, awarded by sports channel ESPN to individuals in the sporting world who have made significant contributions to the lives of others.

The duke was recognised for founding the Invictus Games a decade ago to support injured and sick servicemen and women – both on active duty and veterans – who are navigating physical and invisible injuries.

The Pat Tillman Award for Service is named after former NFL player and US Army Ranger Pat Tillman, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.
