Meghan Markle and her children did not visit the UK in 2023

Archie and Lilibet's reunion with King Charles in doubt as the feud between the Royal Family and the Sussexes continues.

The King did not see his grandchildren in 2023 as they live in the US with their parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

King Charles did make a toast to Prince Archie in May to mark the young royal's fourth birthday which fell on the day of his Coronation ceremony.

Prince Harry attended the landmark event in the UK but flew immediately back to the US to spend the evening with his son.

The Duke of Sussex sent King Charles a video of Archie and Lilibet singing Happy Birthday in November in what appeared to be an olive branch to his father on his 75th birthday.

However, the Sussexes spent the Christmas period away from the UK and the Royal Family once again this December.

The couple's daughter Lilibet has never spent a Christmas in Britain.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the King will be eager to see his grandchildren but is also wary of Harry and Meghan due to their ongoing feud with the Royal Family.

Fitzwilliams said: "[Charles] will have an eagerness undoubtedly but he also has to take into account what has been happening.

"King Charles will play the long game, remembering that there have been a lot of accusations against the Royal Family, and they have had to be quiet."

He added: "I am sure King Charles would love to see Archie and Lilibet.

"In theory, of course, he would but he will take things as they come and consider all of this with care."

Prince Archie is sixth in the Royal Family's line of succession and his sister Princess Lilibet is seventh.

Their father Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne, behind his brother the Prince of Wales and William's children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took Archie and Lilibet on holiday to Costa Rica.
