In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we remember John 3:16 presenting Jesus Christ as the "good shepherd" whose leadership is rooted in love, sacrifice and personal care, guiding believers not through force or control but towards hope, purpose and eternal life.
"A shepherd leads not by force, but by care, by presence, and by commitment to the flock. The verse continues, he gave his only begotten son.
"This is not a distant provision, but a personal one. The shepherd is not removed from the sheep, but comes from amongst them as full care for a shepherd and a writer once reflected: The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
"Trust grows where there is self-giving love, so to entrust oneself to a shepherd requires confidence and their character.
"The son is entrusted because he knows the path. He shares the journey and bears the curse. This is guidance shaped not by control but by relationship.
"The promise of the verse is life that they should not perish but have everlasting life. The good Shepherd leads, but not only to safety, but to fullness of life, a life marked by hope, purpose, and enduring care.
"Let us pray, good Shepherd, guide us with your wisdom and your love. Help us to trust your leading and to rest in your care now and forevermore."
