Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced a significant relaxation of zero emissions targets for UK car manufacturers. The new policy will allow hybrid vehicles to continue being produced for another decade.
The decision marks a shift away from the previous rapid transition to purely electric vehicles.
Starmer revealed the changes during a speech to workers at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in the West Midlands.
The Prime Minister framed the move as part of his plan to rebuild Britain's industrial strength "in defiance of a volatile world".
