FARMING Minister Mark Spencer has welcomed Boris Johnson’s return to campaigning for the Conservative Party and warned that a vote for any other party will result in a Labour government.
He was commenting on reports that Johnson has signed tens of thousands of letters to voters which will be delivered this week.
Spencer told GB News: “Boris recognises I'm sure that if you don't vote for Rishi Sunak, if you vote for another party, you will get Keir Starmer by accident.
“There is a real danger that those people who are thinking of voting for another political party other than the Conservative Party will wake up the next morning with a Keir Starmer government.
“I don't want that to happen, which is why I'm out there and will be right up to polling day to convince people to vote Conservative.
“We've all got a responsibility, all members of the Conservative Party, of course Boris is a member of the Conservative Party.
“We're all out there trying to deliver that that message that when we wake up on the fifth of July, there are only two people that will be Prime Minister, that is either Keir Starmer or Rishi Sunak
“If you don't vote for Rishi Sunak you will get Keir Starmer, and so those people who are minded to vote Reform or for another political party, will in fact elect Keir Starmer by not supporting the Conservative Party.”
Spencer also said that a Conservative government would increase financial support for farmers if the party wins the General Election.
He said: “We’ve done quite a lot already, supporting our UK farmers, in particular the £2.4 billion annual budget.
“We're going to actually increase that over the next parliament by a billion pounds to make sure that they carry on with their brilliant work of providing food for the nation but doing that in a way which is environmentally sensitive and safeguarding and looking after those brilliant landscapes that we hold so dear.
“To my constituents, people up and down the country, when you're travelling or whether you're a tourist in those beautiful landscapes, recognise that actually it is farmers that have created those landscapes and protected them for generations.
“We want to carry on supporting them to do that but also to produce top quality British food…”
