Sir Ed Davey pledges 'more support' for carers as he unveils social care reforms

Lib Dems leader Sir Ed Davey has pledged "more support" for carers across the UK as he details his plans for social care reforms.

Speaking to reporters, Davey said: "It's very close to my heart. I've been a carer most of my life, care for my mum when she was terminally ill.

"Then my gran looked after me and I looked after my Nana when she was frail. And now I look after my disabled son with my wife. And so I've sort of understand about how family carers are under pressure, because there are millions of families who are looking after their loved ones and they need more support."
