Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has grilled Keir Starmer on pension tax in tonights BBC debate ahead of the general election next week.
In the debate Sunak said: "Every pensioner that is watching should realise that under a future Labour government, for the first time in our country's history, the state pension will be subject to a retirement tax under Labour. Can you confirm?"
He added: "Will the pension be subject to income tax under a future Labour government? The only way for it not is for you to match our triple lock plus. So maybe you can change policy here tonight."
Keir Starmer responded: "Our position on pensioners on tax or pensions is exactly the same. It is the position of the government at their last budget."
