Lee Anderson has said the Justice Secretary should resign as Labour mistakenly release 37 prisoners as part of their early release scheme.

The Reform MP also said Yvette Cooper's attack on Reform would not win over the party's 4.1 million voters.

Speaking on GB News, Anderson said: “[Yvette Cooper] says it's important that we must back our police. I've not seen anybody in the Labour Party, including Yvette Cooper, backing those brave police officers who had that bit of a problem at Manchester Airport six or seven weeks ago. I think it's a little bit rich coming from her.

“She's shown already, in the short time she's been Home Secretary since July, that she's completely out of her depth.

“And if she thinks that attacking Reform voters and calling them out at every single opportunity as far-right racists, If she thinks that's going to win the 4.1 million Reform voters back to the Labour Party, they’re just completely out of touch.

“Honestly, I'm gobsmacked at this new government.

“I don't think [Keir Starmer] knows what he's doing from one day to the next. You know he's making gaffes all over the place. He's been an absolute disaster. He's probably the most unpopular Prime Minister in my lifetime and he’s only been PM for about 10 weeks.

“He's out of his depth like the whole Labour front bench. He doesn't know what he's saying, he doesn't know what he's doing, he’s a complete mess. I mean, look at the state of him.

“All you have to realise is Sir Keir Starmer was never intended to be the Prime Minister of this country. He was a stopgap for the Labour Party. He was supposed to be a levelling leader of the Labour Party to rein the lefties in and steady the ship.

“We all know that it was Wes Streeting who was destined to become Labour leader, ready for a strong campaign in 2029. I feel a little bit sorry for him. To be honest, he's out of his depth.

“It's one scandal after another, with the donations, etc, and he’s completely out of touch with the country. You know what, he needs to go away somewhere and reflect upon his behaviour.

“It's not only sausages that Sir Keir Starmer wants releasing, it's also dangerous criminals from our prisoners as well.

“This is not an accident that's being reported. The Justice Secretary actually should resign over this.

“What about the victims and the victims’ family who are sat there watching this tonight, knowing that some of these criminals are roaming the streets that attacked their loved ones.

“It's an absolute disgrace, and it just shows you what the Labour Party actually think about law and order in this country. It’s shameful.”
