Shadow Education Secretary, Damian Hinds, on how Keir Starmer will perform in his first PMQs later this morning.

Damian Hinds says the Government can’t keep dodging questions over what they plan to do about potential tax rises.

The Shadow Education Secretary spoke to GBNews ahead of Keir Starmer’s first ever appearance at Prime Minister Questions.

It comes in the wake of a rebellion by his Labour MP’s overnight - which led to the party having to suspend a number of its members.

Speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Anne Diamond on GB News, Mr Hinds said: “Without doubt there are big questions about tax. The questions came up a lot in the Election, the answers did not - and that cannot be dodged forever.

"The Prime Minister, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, they all go on to say what they are going to do. There's been all this kind of talk, going on saying ‘Oh, yeah, the financial situation is worse than we thought’. No. The numbers were known, the Office of Budget Responsibility published the numbers.

"They are going to have to come clean about what they are planning to do and that is a really important set of questions hanging over politics right now."
