Nikki Haley is currently polling second behind Trump ahead of the New Hampshire vote

American Author Lauren Wright has outlined the upcoming battle between Nikki Haley and Donald Trump, as the candidates prepare to take on New Hampshire.

Former US President Donald Trump won the vote in Iowa, taking over half of the overall votes.

Nikki Haley took third place with 19 per cent, after polling just behind Trump. Ron DeSantis just edged in front of Haley with 21 per cent of the vote.

Ahead of the New Hampshire ballot, Donald Trump is currently leading once again with 52 per cent of the vote.

In a push following the Iowa Caucus, Nikki Haley has jumped up two percentage points to 35 per cent.

Ron DeSantis has fallen to third in the race with just six per cent.

Speaking after the Iowa result, Haley told supporters that Trump's victory in Iowa "made this Republican primary a two-person race".

In a discussion with Patrick Christys on GB News, author Lauren Wright shed doubt on Nikki Haley's chances of securing a New Hampshire win.

Wright told GB News of Haley's two-person race claim: "That's the spin that I would advise any campaign manager, you want to put a positive spin on your results.

"I'm sure the upset her team would have really wanted is for second place, and that would have really solidified her spot as the Trump alternative."

Wright compared Haley's reaction to Bill Clinton, claiming she wants to be "right in the mix" and convincing voters "she can make a comeback".

She continued: "She's saying I made third, I'm coming back, and they'll try to carry that momentum into New Hampshire."

Wright then shared her analysis of Haley's direct battle with Donald Trump, as she stressed the "battle" of her camp to push her into first place in New Hampshire.

She stated: "It is still an uphill battle for her, simply because Trump is just so popular.

"He's a former President and he has near universal name recognition."
