The former US President has been found guilty on all 34 counts in his hush money trial

Donald Trump's guilty verdict will "help his chances massively" in November's presidential election, it has been claimed.

This comes as the former US President was found guilty on all 34 counts at the New York court following his infamous hush money trial.

Donald Trump has now become the first-ever former US President to be convicted of a felony.

Speaking to GB News following the verdict, GBN America reporter Steven Edginton claimed that the decision will "energise" Trump supporters to vote for him at the ballot boxes come November.

In a discussion with Patrick Christys, Steven said of Trump's historic verdict: "This is totally unprecedented. No former president has ever been convicted of a crime.

"I think the mood here in the United States is explosive. The energy and the emotion that people on both sides are expressing is phenomenal."

Detailing the atmosphere of Trump supporters both in New York and across America, Steven said they are "furious" about the ruling and view the trial as a "political prosecution".

Steven explained: "I really get a sense that the Republicans are furious with what they see as a political prosecution.

"On the other side, the Democrats see Trump as being a major threat to democracy. They're very concerned about him winning in November, and I think many of them are quite happy, actually, that he's been convicted today, that he faces all these trials, not just in New York, but around the country."

Patrick then highlighted that although Donald Trump could be facing a prison sentence, there is "every possibility" that he can still be elected President in November, despite being imprisoned.

Steven explained: "Yes he could be going to prison for the first time in American history. We have a presidential candidate and a former president who could be going to prison."

Detailing Trump's election chances, Steven revealed: "I think this actually helps his chances massively. It really plays into what Trump has been saying for years and the Democrats have played their hand, I think, pretty poorly here.

"This was a weak case. I think we can all see it was a weak case, although the Democrats say that no one is above the law."

Steven continued: "I think when it comes to November, this really will energise Trump's base. I think it will make them absolutely furious and turn out to vote for what they see as a president under fire from his political enemies.

"I think that legal experts say that he probably won't go to prison for this crime. This is his first conviction, and there's lots of mitigating circumstances and factors.

"So I think the experts say that it's unlikely that he will actually be sent to prison for this.

"However, obviously, if this is politically motivated, then the logical conclusion to that would be that the Democrats and the judges and the politicians involved in this case would send Trump to prison."
