Author Rachel Morrin has claimed that 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' is spreading "rapidly" across America, following the former President's conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Discussing her new book, 'Trump Derangement Syndrome: A Psychological Analysis of Leftist Ideology', Morrin told GBN America reporter Steven Edginton that many American voters are experiencing "irrational behaviour" in support of Trump, as the country prepares for the next Presidential election.
Speaking to GBNA at the Turning Point Action Conference in Detroit, Morrin claimed there are "many symptoms" of the syndrome and has caused families across the US to "stop talking" to members who are displaying symptoms.
Morrin explained: "Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) can be defined in many, many different ways. But the way to describe it is irrational behaviour in response to Donald Trump - specifically the man, not his policies."

When asked by Steven what the typical symptoms of the syndrome are, Morrin revealed that although symptoms "vary", they can include "vitriol in defence of him" and "denying common-sense policies".
Morrin told GBNA: "I think from on the more severe range, what we're seeing with TDS is how it impacts families, where families are not speaking to each other because one family member supports Donald Trump.
"Or even in our society, we've seen lots of different impacts of TDS. That's why we decided to write the book, to try to understand how one individual can cause truly this syndrome to develop."
When pressed by Steven on what a "typical person" with Trump Derangement Syndrome may look like, Morrin claimed in most cases, they are the people "most vulnerable to propaganda".

Morrin revealed: "If I was to describe somebody with TDS, they would have what we call an external locus of control.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"We go into it a little bit deeper in the book about that psychological principle, but essentially that's really what the root of it is. It's an individual who's more vulnerable to propaganda."
Defining what internal and external locus of control means, Morrin explained that people typically "blame others for actions where things happen to you", whereas internal locus of control is when people "make their own decisions and feel that fate or destiny is based on you, not some other external factor".
She continued: "So individuals who are more vulnerable to propaganda, such as TDS or that Trump's such a bad man would have more of an internal external locus of control.
"These individuals are more likely to develop depression, they're more likely to have higher levels of stress. Consequently, they're more likely to develop a victim mentality. So I think that's the personality, painting a picture of it."

Noting her research into Trump Derangement Syndrome and who is most likely affected by it, Morrin revealed her data found that "more left-leaning" Americans are more likely to "develop an external locus of control".
Morrin told GBNA: "In our research, we didn't see one more than the other. But left-leaning are more likely to develop an external locus of control, which for us it was quite striking, to see that there was a distinct difference between individuals who are left-leaning ideology versus right-leaning ideology.
"So that's where we're really starting to see that more of the root of it."
