The only challenger to Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, Nikki Haley could finish second in the race - despite being the only candidate.
Trump’s supporters have been urging party loyalists in Nevada to write in "none of these candidates" on their ballots.
Haley is the only serious competitor for the party’s nomination to Donald Trump.
The candidate is standing in tonight’s ballot, after choosing to contest the primary election rather than Thursday’s caucus - in which Trump will take part.
Polls suggest the 52-year-old, who has largely ignored Nevada during her campaign, is now almost guaranteed to finish in second place.
"I would say that it is almost a certainty that Haley finishes second in the primary,” the Nevada pollster Woodrow Johnston of Revere Solutions told The Times.
His firm predicts that Haley will win 40.8 per cent of the primary vote, while "none of these candidates" gets 59.2 per cent.
He continued: "The polling suggests that [Haley will finish second], but also the anecdotal evidence here shows that it’s pretty clear that Nikki Haley will lose to nobody."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Haley has insisted that her campaign will continue, despite defeats to Trump in Iowa and New Hampshire - the two of which have already chosen their Republican candidate.
She has been heavily campaigning in South Carolina, where she served as governor between 2011 and 2017.
The state will pick their candidate on February 24.
Haley’s campaign manager Betsy Ankney told reporters: "Nevada is not and has never been our focus.

Reuters"We have not spent a dime or an ounce of energy on Nevada."
Johnston added: "She might not have spent a dime campaigning here, but neither has nobody.
"It’s pretty embarrassing. She’s going to lose her home state, too. It’s a bit of a one-two punch, losing to nobody and then losing South Carolina. I suspect that the Haley campaign will downplay Nevada."
