The Reform UK leader claimed it would be 'absolutely potty' for Americans to vote for Harris on the basis that she is a woman

Nigel Farage has been slammed for his remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris after claiming it would be "potty" for US voters to choose her based on her gender.

The Reform UK leader and Clacton MP, who is a close ally of Republican nominee Donald Trump, said it would be a "terrible basis" for the electorate to vote on come November.

"The whole identity politics, that everyone must be divided up into different groups according to sexual preference or race, I’m not interested in any of that," he said.

"We should just judge people for who they are. Surely we should just pick people on ability?" he continued to tell the Daily T podcast.

Criticising the remarks on GB News, US political analyst Nomiki Konst claimed that Farage is "trying to distract the public away from the Trump ticket" which is "sinking".

Konst told GB News: "Donald Trump's incoherent, historically long RNC speech didn't give the Republicans a bump at all, which never happens.

"The Republicans were flailing before Kamala Harris stepped in."

Praising the Democratic candidate, Konst hailed Harris's "record-breaking" fundraising after securing over $80million in under 24 hours.

Konst highlighted: "Kamala Harris has reignited the party. $81million in 24 hours. Every single demographic in the Democratic Party - women, men, it doesn't matter. They're all boosting the poll."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Hitting back at Farage's remarks about Harris's gender, Konst claimed US voters are "absolutely" going to choose the Vice President because she is a woman.

Konst explained: "Are people going to vote for her because she's a Democratic woman? Yes, they are, because the rights of women in our country have been reversing at an astronomical rate in the last four years, especially with the Supreme Court.

"So it does matter that we have a Democratic Party woman on the ballot who stands for reproductive rights."

Making her prediction for the November election if Harris is officially nominated, Konst claimed that it will encourage "more women to vote" in support of the Democrats.

Konst told GB News: "Women are voting for democracy. The Trump-Vance ticket wants to destabilise the world, isolate the United States from everywhere else, pull out of Ukraine and cosy up to Vladimir Putin and North Korea. That's bonkers.

"Women are going to turn out for her. And when women turn out, which they do, we win. The Democrats win."

Hitting out at the Republican running mate JD Vance, Konst fumed at his comments about Harris and claimed the Trump-Vance ticket is an "embarrassment" to the party.

She said: "They're doubling down on punishing women. JD Vance called Kamala Harris a cat lady who doesn't have children, she's angry at the world and that's why she's running for president - that's bonkers. That's not even mentally sane at this point, and it's embarrassing for Republicans to run on this ticket."
