Nancy Pelosi finally endorses Kamala Harris in order to 'resoundingly defeat' Donald Trump

Nancy Pelosi has finally endorsed Kamala Harris, over 24 hours after Joe Biden announced he would not be seeking re-election.
In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, the President announced he would not be running for re-election as "it is in the best interest of my party" to stand down and "focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term".
In a second post on X, he referred to picking Harris as his running mate in 2020 as "best decision" he's made and endorsed her to be his successor.
He wrote: "My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.

"Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."
High-profile Democrats were quick to get behind Harris last night, with two notable absentees - Pelosi and Barack Obama.
However, in a statement posted earlier today, the former House Speaker, echoed words of other Democrats and described Joe Biden as “one of our country’s most consequential presidents.”
She urged supporters to unify around Harris in order to “resoundingly defeat” Donald Trump in November.
