Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz as her running mate in the presidential election.
The announcement comes just one day after Harris officially secured her Democratic nomination.
Walz is in his second term as Minnesota governor and chairs the Democratic Governors Association.
The 60-year-old is a former US Army National Guard member and a former teacher who has raised his profile over recent weeks as an advocate for Harris.
The former member of Congress will be officially introduced as Harris' running mate at a rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, today.
He has previously attacked Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance as "weird" in a viral insult.
Walz was elected to a Republican-leaning district in the US House of Representatives in 2006 and served 12 years before being elected governor of Minnesota in 2018.
The search for a running mate began two weeks ago - after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her to replace him.

Walz is widely seen as skilled at connecting with white, rural voters who in recent years have voted broadly for the Republican Donald Trump, Harris' rival for the White House.
He has also been described as having the "most progressive record" of any of Harris's possible running mate options.
Walz is known for instructing progressive policies in his state - which includes free school meals, abortion protections, gun restrictions and legal marijuana.
