Chair of Educated We Stand believes people across the country are fed up with the 'culture wars'
A Florida school board member has said she thinks Kamala Harris will flip her home state to the Democrats, the first time since 2012.
Jennifer Jenkins is the founder and chair of Educated We Stand, a group which aims to combat "far-right extremism" taking over American public education.
She said that recent results at the school boards are evident of the growing dissatisfaction with the Republicans in Florida.
The state has historically been shown as a key swing state, with Floridians voting with the winning candidate in every election since 1974 bar two; 1992 and 2020.
More recently, however, the Republicans have been ascendant, winning most statewide races and the controversial governor Ron DeSantis serving since 2019.
Donald Trump won twice here; in 2020 it was the only battleground state where he expanded his winning margin from 2016 (1.2 per cent to 3.3 per cent.)

Speaking to GB News as to why she thinks the Democrats will flip the state blue for the first time since 2012, Jenkins said: "I just feel it. It's also evident in our in our primary election in August, I can speak again to school boards. It's been the most hotly contested race in our state.
"Florida has very large school districts. So right now, the school district I serve on is the 10th largest in the state of Florida, the 49th largest in the United States. We have 9,000 employees, 75,000 students, and a $1.6 billion budget. So you'll hear these seats often referred to as down ballot races, but the reality is, they're just as large as a state House representative, so they're very important seats.
"They cost a lot of money, and both sides are heavily invested in them. And in Florida, they've made it very clear the Republican Party that this is their battleground. This is what they're willing to challenge and take on.
"But in August, organisations like myself were wildly successful over far-right extremism, like groups like Moms for Liberty and Ron DeSantis.
"One of the biggest flips that we had was in a county called Sarasota County. It is traditionally very, very conservative, Democrats are out registered by a significant number of Republicans."

Ron DeSantis stepped down from the Republican presidential race
Ron DeSantisSpeaking about why the Republicans are losing these polls, she added: "Even when it's closest to home, when it matters most, that regardless of political registration, people are tired of the chaos and the controversy and the culture wars.
"They really want to make sure that experts in the spaces where they need to be and that people are truly representing who they are....I think DeSantis always had a mission to run for president, and he believed that being more extreme than Donald Trump or replicating Trump was going to be his method to success.
"But as we've seen, you know, he's a failed presidential candidate in the United States and didn't even come in second place, and so that what was holding in the state of Florida didn't hold across the US. Republicans like DeSantis and Trump just share a complete disregard for a government that reflects the will of their constituents and they will do anything to impose their agenda.
"When it comes to education, the things that they want to do is dismantle our Department of Education. They want to cut title one funding which serves our under provoked communities.
"They want to end early childhood programs and destroy our idea program which ends protections for students with disabilities. So I mean, they tell us who they are, and we have to believe them."
President Joe Biden stood down from the race in July

Jenkins attended the Democratic National Convention as part of the Florida delegation that nominated Kamala Harris. When asked if it was right for President Biden to stand aside, she said: "I think it was courageous and noble for him to do it.
"I think it's all speculative of what would have happened if he stayed in the race, but I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful for his bravery, for his selflessness to give up that that chance at another four years of power for the most powerful nation in the world.
"I'm grateful because it has inspired so many young people in this country to start paying attention and engaging again in their politics and really understanding that this truly impacts their daily lives."
