Joe Biden and Donald Trump will fight to become America's next President in November's leadership election

US President Joe Biden has issued a fresh challenge to political rival Donald Trump in a bizarre video posted on social media.

Biden shared a new video on X, calling out the former President amid his continued legal battles in New York's Supreme Court.

Criticising his lack of debate appearances on the latest campaign trail, Biden claimed Trump "lost two debates to me in 2020", and since then "he hasn't shown up".

In a direct demand to the Republican, Biden fumed: "Make my day, pal! I'll even do it twice."

The video, which has been viewed almost nine million times, also claimed Trump is "acting like he wants to debate me again".

Encouraging a new debate to be organised, Biden added: "Let's pick the dates, Donald. I hear you're free on Wednesdays."

The proposal comes as Biden formally informed the Commission on Presidential Debates that he will not participate in the previously scheduled fall debates.

Reports have since claimed that Biden and Trump have "both accepted" an invitation from CNN to debate on June 27, a historically early event that will set the tone for the final months of the showdown in their 2024 campaigns.

In a post on X following the video, Biden's camp wrote: "I’ve received and accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Trump has told Fox News's Brooke Singman that he "will accept" the CNN debate invitation for June 27. Singman posted on X: "Trump tells me “I’ll be there” and says he’s “looking forward to being in beautiful Atlanta."

Reacting to the video, American voters took to X to share their thoughts on Biden's challenge to Trump.

One user said: "I speak for all when I say President Biden telling Donald Trump to “make my day” has made our day."

Another hit out at the President, stating: "This 13-second video showcases your speaking skills. You couldn't deliver it in just one take."

Highlighting Biden's apparent cognitive decline in the video, another X user fumed: "Joe Biden can’t even handle a teleprompter. He clearly has lost both his mental and physical faculties.

"It’s sad Jill Biden allows him to continue to fall apart in front of the world like this. Joe shouldn’t be debating. He should be in a nursing home. We all know it’s true."

In defence of Trump, another American voter claimed Trump has "never lost" a debate against Biden. They said: "Trump has NEVER lost a debate to you.

"And Trump has said he will debate you anytime, anywhere. Let’s go, Crooked Joe. Name where and when you’ll debate him. What are you so scared of?"
