Sir Iain Duncan Smith shrugged off concerns about Joe Biden's attitude towards Britain as he mocked: "He won't be in power for much longer."
The former Conservative Party leader took aim at the US President as he discussed the prospects of a UK-US trade deal with GB News.
Biden has repeatedly made clear that a deal with Britain is low on his priority list.
Duncan Smith said: "It doesn't really matter what Joe Biden says, you know he's not going to be there in power not too far in the future.

PA"And if the Republicans get in, I know that they want to do trade arrangements with us etcetera."
His comments were made before reports claimed leaked documents suggested Biden and Rishi Sunak were working on securing a trade deal before next year's UK and US elections.
Duncan Smith said that links remained strong betweeN the UK and US despite Biden's presence in the White House.
He said: "Government in America is more than just one person and most of people in the house want to have a close relationship with the UK.

"I think Biden isn't relevant to this relationship at all. He flits in, he flits out."
Just yesterday Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch had downplayed any hopes of a deal saying that there was “zero” chance of an agreement while Biden was President.
She told a fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester that the President has "very close links with unions" who were anti-free trade deals.

PAAsked if a Trump-led White House could be more amenable, she did not directly answer the question.
She said: “An FTA is a tool. It is not the answer to everything.
"There are other things you can do.
"You don’t always have to wait for the FTA with the president or his administration.”
