Biden announced he would be stepping down as US president in July

Joe Biden was seen snapping at a White House aide in his latest gaffe as he met world leaders for the final time as president.

The 81-year-old abruptly barked "Who's next?" while introducing the "Quad" leaders of Australia, India and Japan.

Biden hosted the event on Saturday night in Wilmington, Delaware to discuss the Quad's efforts to beat cancer.

Following his introductory speech, Biden said: "So I want to thank you all for being here. And now, who am I introducing next?"

After an awkward silence, the US president demanded: "Who's next?"

One of his aides could be seen making a hand gesture towards the stage before the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was introduced.

Biden then made a joke and put his arm around Modi.

It appears the gaffe was a result of a logistical error, rather than Biden's advancing years.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The event hoped to advance Biden's "cancer moonshot" - which will see the US work alongside the other three regions in the Quad to try and beat the disease.

Both the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida also attended.

The world leader's meeting was Biden's final as president before November's election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

In July, Biden announced he was stepping down following his debate with Trump.

It came amid growing concerns over mistakes Biden made on stage.

Biden has also suffered a physical decline following repeated trips while walking up the steps of Air Force One.

It was reported that the president was effectively forced out of office by senior Democrats including Nancy Pelosi.
