The US President made yet another gaffe as he coughed while handing out Halloween sweets to trick-or-treaters for nearly 90 minutes

Joe Biden has been filmed coughing into his hand before immediately giving sweets to a young girl during a White House event to mark Halloween.

Biden, 80, repeatedly coughed before dishing out M&Ms and Hershey’s Kisses to children visiting his Washington residence.

The 46th President also dropped candy on the ground as his hands were left shaking.

Biden attended the White House event as himself but First Lady Jill dressed up with some clear feline features on show.

The Commander-in-Chief instead opted to don a ball cap and suit.

Around 8,000 people were welcomed to the White House for the themed event.

The so-called Hallo-Read event featured book giveaways and story readings by the First Lady, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and authors.

Numerous federal government departments and agencies participated.

The footage will yet again raise questions about the 80-year-old’s age, health and competency to serve in the Oval Office.

Biden’s approval rating continues to plummet and a recent CNN poll handed ex-President Donald Trump a one-point lead in a potential head-to-head race in 2024.

Almost three-in-four Americans believe Biden is “too old to run for President”, while only 47 per cent say the same about his 77-year-old Republican rival.

Despite concerns about Biden’s capability of running in 2024, the 80-year-old’s Halloween event is not the first time a President marked the event in the White House.

Former First Lady Mamie Eisenhower decorated the White House for Halloween in 1958, the White House Historical Association.

Subsequent Commanders-in-Chief have taken heed of the move by Dwight’s wife.

However, 2023 is the first year Biden hosted trick-or-treaters at the White House for Halloween.

Rain impacted the scheduled event in 2022 and the Bidens were overseas in Europe during the holiday in 2021.

The couple instead decided to light the White House orange while they were visiting the continent.
