Did JD Vance 'CRUSH Tampon Tim', according to Donald Trump? Find out below...

US Vice Presidential hopefuls JD Vance and Tim Walz went head-to-head last night in a TV debate - firing the starting gun on the final month of campaigning ahead of November 5's election.

The clash has been hailed as a show of civility, with the two prospective VPs saving most of their blows for Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

But despite the pair shaking hands at the start and lingering afterwards to introduce their wives, it wasn't all so cordial. Posting on his social media of choice, Truth Social, throughout the evening, Trump said: "JD Vance just CRUSHED Tampon Tim with the FACTS!"

Looking back on the debate, GB News has identified four unmissable moments from last night's clash.

Tim Walz's Tiananmen track-back

Walz was pressed on past statements he's made on his military record and where he was when the Tiananmen Square massacre took place.

In the past, the Minnesota governor has claimed he was in Hong Kong on the day of the atrocity - but when pulled up on this during the debate, he told moderators he "misspoke".

Though he appeared to try to dodge the question, he ultimately said: "I got there that summer and I misspoke on this... I'm a knucklehead at times."

'DAMNING!' Vance slapped down on January 6 claims

Around the end of the debate, Vance - who has said he would not have voted to certify the results of the 2020 election - avoided a question about whether he would challenge this year's vote if Trump loses.

Walz responded by blaming Trump's false claims of voter fraud for instigating the unrest on January 6, 2021, at the US Capitol in an unsuccessful effort to prevent the certification of Joe Biden's 2020 election.

"He is still saying he didn't lose the election," Walz said, before turning to Vance. "Did he lose the 2020 election?"

Vance again sidestepped the question, accusing Kamala Harris of pursuing online censorship of opposing viewpoints instead.

"That is a damning non-answer," Walz said.

Walz: 'I befriended school shooters'

Walz appeared to channel his inner Joe Biden as he claimed he had "become friends with school shooters".

In an exchange with Vance on gun control, Walz highlighted the impact of school shootings, saying: "I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents... I've become friends with school shooters. I've seen it."

Unsurprisingly, Trump seized the opportunity to blast Walz on Truth Social, saying: "Did Tampon Tim just say he has 'become friends with school shooters?' He isn't even qualified to be governor, let alone Vice President. Walz and Kamala DO NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!

"Second time he has said: 'I've been friends with school shooters' - What does he mean by this? Is he insane?"

Would-be VPs clash on migration - but BOTH men silenced by moderators

In what has been called the most heated moment of the evening, Vance looked to have been riled up by Walz's - and the CBS moderators' - challenging of his claims about Haitian migrants in Ohio.

Trump's running-mate pushed the moderator, Margaret Brennan, on the agreed "rules" of the debate after Walz interrupted - and appeared to continue talking despite being inaudible to those watching on.

Brennan stifled laughter before saying: "Gentlemen the audience can't hear you, because your mics are cut - we have so much we want to get to, thank you for explaining the legal process."
