The former President told media outside the courtroom that the case was a "political witch hunt" against him and his 2024 campaign.
At the latest primary debate for Presidential candidates in Iowa, Trump made his intentions for a possible NATO alliance clear, declaring he would only work alongside them if they "treat us properly".
Speaking to GB News, Lee Cohen claimed it would be "excellent news" for the United Kingdom if Trump won the November election.
Should Trump overcome his legal battles in New York, Cohen said Trump could see the US agree a trade deal with the UK, something current leader Joe Biden has not yet achieved.
Cohen told host Mark Dolan: "I think a Trump presidency would be excellent for the United Kingdom. During his first term, I believe he was Britain's greatest unsung hero.
"While he might not have expressed himself in a melodic way to British ears, his policies were very much embracing of where Britain was at that moment."
Cohen highlighted that Trump was a "key supporter of Brexit", and that the "America First" style ambitions of the former President aligned well with Britain's bid for independence.
He added that Trump will help "bolster" Britain's agenda for freedom, following the country's exit from the European Union.

In contrast to Biden's struggling talks to secure a trade deal with the UK, Cohen predicted that there may be a "reopening of discussions" into securing a deal with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Cohen told GB News viewers: "Trump was very supportive of Brexit. If Trump gets back in, I think you can see a reopening of the discussion along a US-UK free trade agreement.
"Trump is extremely proud of his British and Scottish roots. He had a very good relationship with Queen Elizabeth II. Joe Biden didn't even turn up to King Charles' Coronation, the first coronation in nearly 70 years.
"The President of Britain's so-called staunchest ally didn't even bother to show up himself. That was terribly disrespectful."
