Sean Spicer delivered his take on Trump's border tsar appointment

Donald Trump’s new ‘border tsar’ is a clear signal of intent on how he plans to ruthlessly target the issue of illegal immigration, according to Sean Spicer.

The former White House press secretary joined Steven Edginton on GBN America to praise Trump’s decision.

Tom Homan, a former head of immigration and customs enforcement, said he will override states who try to block Trump’s plans for the largest deportation programme in US history.

Asked whether his appointment shows he is “serious” on borders, Spicer said: “This is a huge signal to anyone who’s thinking about coming into this country illegally or anyone that is here illegally, that he means business.

“Tom Homan is a top notch professional, a law enforcement official who understands the system and is committed to protecting America.”

The 78-year-old, who will be inaugurated in January, is set to preside over a much more “focused” administration, Spicer said on GBN America.

“One of the silver linings of Trump being out of office for the last four years if that there’s been a lot of people spending a lot of time putting names together”, he said.

“They’ve also been putting policies together and getting ready for a second administration.

“They’re going to hit the ground running and take Washington by storm on January 20th.”

Trump has said he wants to be a “dictator” on day one of his presidency as he seeks to enact an agenda of radical reform, particularly on the border crisis.

Asked what this may look like, Spicer said: “That was a joke he was making, but I think in a serious way, he’s going to come in and make it very clear that you’re going to see a stack of executive orders and actions.

“It will be on everything from the economy to immigration to cultural issues. But it’s like I said, I have no doubt that January 20th will be an extremely busy day for this administration.”

Several Democratic governors, including California’s Gavin Newsom, have indicated they intend not to make things easy for Donald Trump by scuppering his deportation plans.

“I’ve seen some of the Democratic governors say they’re going to stand in the way, they’re going to make it hard for us”, Homan told Fox News.

“A suggestion: if you’re not going to help us, get the hell out of the way for we’re going to do it.

“So, if we can’t get assistance from New York City, we may have to double the number of agents we send to New York City because we’re going to do the job. We’re going to do the job without you or with you.”
