Donald Trump has bizarrely claimed that buying bacon is "too expensive" for him, as he made a fresh set of election pledges to voters at his campaign rally in Philadelphia.
The former US President made the remarks as he set out his plan ahead of the November leadership election.
Among the pledges, Trump has vowed "more immunity" for police officers to be harsher with suspects, noting that they are currently "treated so badly".
He also promised to provide an "Iron Dome" style security system across America.

Elsewhere in his speech, Trump blamed President Joe Biden and the Democrats for rising crime figures, which he claimed had forced stores to "lock up all their soap".
He told the crowd: "The pharmacies have to lock up the soap. The soap. You want to buy a little bar of soap? You got to go through a big deal. Open up the glass. Open up the steel. You can’t keep a bar of soap."
Comparing soap to bacon, the former US leader then admitted: "Bacon, too, has become off-limits for many Americans.
"Even I won’t buy bacon anymore, it’s too expensive! I said I'd love to have some lovely bacon, darling. And she said, no, I'm sorry. It's too expensive."

He also assured the voters of Philadelphia that he will "shut down the Federal Department of Education", but then promised to spend less than "half" of what President Biden is currently spending on education.

"We don’t need the votes, we have the votes. I don’t care, all we need to do is guard the votes -I want the steal stopped."
Hitting out at President Joe Biden, Trump also took aim at the current economic state of America, slamming the "massive inflation" voters have "suffered through".
Trump raged: "Energy is what caused this massive inflation that we've suffered through, and then everything caught on. I mean, do you ever see bacon? It went up four times, four times over the course of three years.

"Unbelievably crooked Joe Biden went on television last week and he proclaimed in an interview that Americans can actually afford his brutal inflation tax. He said they could afford it. He declared that families have the money to spend."
Trump continued: "They don't have the money to spend. They've run out of money. If you miss a couple of days of work, can you imagine you can't pay your bills?
"We have the highest percentage of that that we've ever had, and Biden blamed his economic disaster on companies shrinking the size of their Snickers bars."
