The suspect behind the firebombing chanted 'free Palestine' as he carried out his attack - and now, Trump has vowed 'he must go out'

Donald Trump has blamed open borders for yesterday's "targeted terror attack" in Colorado in a fiery anti-immigration tirade.

The attack, which injured eight people, is alleged to have been carried out by Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, who is in the US on an expired visa.

The FBI said Soliman had been heard chanting "free Palestine" before throwing incendiary devices into a crowd holding a "peaceful walk" to commemorate hostages being held by terror group Hamas in Gaza.

He has since been charged with assault, the use of explosives, a hate crime and first-degree murder - even though nobody was killed.

And now, the President has spoken out on Truth Social.

He said: "Yesterday's horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado will not be tolerated in the United States of America. He came in through Biden's ridiculous open border policy, which has hurt our country so badly.

"He must go out under 'Trump' policy. Acts of terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

"This is yet another example of why we must keep our borders secure, and deport illegal, anti-American radicals from our homeland.

"My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, and the great people of Boulder, Colorado!"

US Attorney General Pamela Bondi said on Monday: "The Department of Justice has swiftly charged the illegal alien perpetrator of this heinous attack with a federal hate crime and will hold him accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

"Our prayers are with the victims and our Jewish community across the world."

Yesterday, Todd Lyons, the acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice), confirmed Soliman had overstayed a visa and had an expired work permit.

"There are millions of individuals like this that we are attempting to locate from the past administration that weren't properly screened that were allowed in," Lyons fumed at a press conference in Boston.

"I will tell you that's a huge effort for Ice right now."

A Department of Homeland Security spokesman, meanwhile, said Soliman had entered the US in August 2022 and filed for asylum the following month.

"The suspect, Mohamed Soliman, is illegally in our country," the spokesman said.

In total, four women and four men between 52 and 88 years old were taken to hospitals after the attack, according to local police.

It took place on the Pearl Street Mall, a popular pedestrian shopping district near the University of Colorado, during an event organised by Run for Their Lives, a campaign group dedicated to raising awareness about the hostages seized in the aftermath of 2023's October 7 attack.

Rabbi Yisroel Wilhelm, the Chabad director at the University of Colorado, Boulder, told CBS Colorado that the 88-year-old victim was a Holocaust refugee who fled Europe following the Second World War.
