Pollsters have claimed Harris’ boost comes amid a surge in support among young, black and Hispanic voters

Donald Trump could “pull out” of the 2024 White House race as opinion polls put Kamala Harris two-points ahead, a former aide has claimed.

Harris, who has been all but coronated as Joe Biden’s replacement for the Democratic Party’s nomination, is leading Trump in several opinion polls.

The latest YouGov survey put the Vice President on 46 per cent, with Trump trailing on 44 per cent.

Pollsters have claimed Harris’ boost comes amid a surge in support among young, black and Hispanic voters.

Anthony Scaramucci, who served in the White House as communications director for just 11 days, claimed his ex-boss could follow in Joe Biden’s footsteps by stepping down as the Republican nominee.

The 60-year-old said: “Don’t be surprised if Donald Trump drops out of the race.”

He added: “Not over yet. Trump may leave the race. Just watch his poll numbers plummet and see what happens.

“We fight tirelessly no matter what for Freedom, for the Republic, for the Democracy and to end the threat of Tyranny.”

Scaramucci, a friend-turned-nemesis of the former President, later suggested ex-UN Ambassador Nikki Haley or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could step in for Trump.

Trump received 76.4 per cent of the vote in the Republican Party primary, with Haley and DeSantis clawing onto around 20 per cent combined.

However, opinion polls paint an uncertain picture in a contest not decided by the popular vote.

Trump opened up a three per cent lead over the Vice President in a survey conducted by Harris.

Swing states have also made the race unpredictable as Americans brace for the tightest of elections on November 5.

Despite leading Biden in almost all states flipped in 2020, a new Morning Consult poll now puts Trump ahead in only North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Harris is leading in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin, with the pair neck-and-neck in Georgia.

Such a situation would put Harris on 268 electoral votes and Trump on 254.

Election Day would come down to ballots cast in Georgia, with both candidates able to surpass the 270 electoral college votes needed by picking up the Peach State’s 16 votes.

Biden won Georgia by just 11,779 votes in 2020 and Trump is facing criminal charges for election interference.

Trump’s running-mate JD Vance appeared to concede that Harris' involvement in the race was a game-changer.

Vance claimed the 45th President had been “hit with a little bit of a political sucker punch” by Biden’s decision to step aside.

However, Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said: “Kamala Harris is just as incompetent as Joe Biden and even more liberal.

“A vote for Kamala is a vote to continue inflation, open borders, high gas prices and war around the world.”
