Adam Goodman explained to GB News the economic policies of both presidential candidates

Donald Trump has been advised to adopt a “Brexit-style” economic policy to impress voters ahead of the upcoming US election, a veteran GOP media strategist told GB News.

With the economy set to be one of the main topics which will sway voters in the upcoming November election,Adam Goodman gave his thoughts on what strategies the presidential candidates could employ.

Former President Trump has been an outspoken critic of the current President’s economic policies having previously claimed Bidenomics was behind soaring energy costs and a reduction of GDP earlier this year.

To win over voters, Goodman suggests that Trump needs to send a message of “getting control”.

He said: “President Trump's prescription is to say, ‘look, it's been a really tough four years. It didn't have to be like that. It wasn't like that. Under my administration, we're going to get control of this like they did with Brexit. It's a feeling of a loss of control. We're going to get control of this and we're going to start to turn the economy around.’

“Not so it pleases economists, but so it actually helps average Americans.”

Turning to Harris, Goodman exposed a flaw in the Vice President’s current strategy, saying the White House is simply “throwing money” at any issues.

Goodman said: “The price of living is going up faster generally than wages across the board.

“More and more people can't afford housing. More and more people can't afford basic necessities.

“That's still a major issue. Now, Kamala has just come out with a proposal to give away $6,000 to every newborn.

“I think her answer to four years where Americans have not felt good about the economy, frankly, is to try to throw money at it.”

Expanding on the major topics that are likely to emerge in the run-up to November 5, Goodman said American voters cared about immigration, foreign policy, and the economy during the 2022 midterms.

The host of 13th and Park Podcast said in the upcoming election, the economy was likely to come out on top as the key issue for voters.

“In 2024, we're seeing much the same thing [as the 2022 midterms],” Goodman said, “Even though Kamala Harris has temporarily at least narrowed the gap on who Americans prefer on the economy, immigration, and foreign policy.

“Still, they all favour the challenger [Trump].

“The question is among those issues, which one is dominant? Usually, it's the economy.”

Continuing to discuss what other issues could be contentious, Goodman added: “The immigration issue, I think, is kind of baked in. I don't think that's going to improve dramatically.

“Foreign policy - that is always an X factor. What happens if Iran decides to respond to the incursion across their borders? What if that became a regional war? What would that do to maybe impact the American election? I think could impact it greatly.

“But beyond the issues, I think Americans, like so many people around the world are looking for leadership that works.

“And if President Trump makes this a referendum on the last four years, he wins.

“If Kamala Harris makes this a referendum on Donald Trump she has a chance to win.

“And that's kind of where we start as we start moving closer and closer towards Labor Day.”
