The Democrats will not ditch Joe Biden ahead of November’s election as it is in their best interests to “prop him up”, according to a political commentator.

Tim Young joined Mark Dolan on GBN America to assess the oldest ever sitting president’s chances of winning a second term.

Mark suggested Biden is showing signs of cognitive decline with “increasingly erratic” behaviour, but Young believes this won’t be enough to deter the Democrats.

“He will run in November”, he asserted.

“We had a senator here, Dianne Feinstein, who I believe was in her 90s and they rolled her out. She could barely speak.

“She gave power of attorney, which here means she gave all her life decisions to her daughter.

“They roll out these elderly politicians because there are so many people linked to power and money connected to them, and they will prop them up to keep themselves coming into power and getting their pay checks.”

Asked about whether the party has a potential replacement lined up, Young said the only feasible candidate would be Michelle Obama, but she has distanced herself from a run at the White House.

Democrat senator Gavin Newsom has also been mooted as a possible replacement, but Young harbours doubts as to whether he harbours the national appeal to have a run for presidency given he is not as much of a household name.

“I think they’re better off keeping him [Biden] there”, he said.

“Unless they put in someone like Michelle Obama, which has been rumoured for a very long time.

“It seems that she has no interest in taking the position. I think they would have installed her already.

“The Democrats are better keeping with Biden. I know that is strange to say with how our economy is and how it seems like he is trying to start World War Three on multiple fronts, but it seems like staying the course is the way to go for them.”

The Wall Street Journal reported this week that the president is said to use notes for talking points and rely on advisers to answer questions in backroom negotiations.

The White House have pushed back hard on the claims, branding them a “political tactic” by Republicans.
