US President Joe Biden has warned that the 'soul of America is at stake' in his first address since dropping out of the election race

Joe Biden's decision to drop out of the Presidential election race was "made for him" in a "Democratic coup", it has been claimed.

The 81-year-old leader announced he would no longer be running for a second term on Sunday, passing the campaign on to his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

Addressing the world for the first time since the announcement, Biden said it had been the "honour of his life" to serve as President, but is his decision to step down was "not about him".

Biden declared: "History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The power of America lies in your hands - let's act together to preserve our democracy."

Discussing the move by Biden on GBN America, US Reporter Neil McCabe claimed that the decision was one "not made by the President" as he "didn't want to go".

McCabe said: "It's a coup, because President Biden didn't want to go. A coup is when the decision is made for you.

"Biden wanted to fight, his family and his handlers wanted to fight, but that decision was made for him, and we saw it in real time."

Hitting out at the spiralling "conspiracies" from Democrats about Donald Trump's campaign, McCabe fumed that the left will "throw J6 (January 6) garbage at us" for claiming there was a coup to get Biden to drop out.

McCabe told GBNA: "Every time we talk about a coup against Biden, someone's going to throw this J6 garbage at us.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"No one from the Trump campaign, White House or Trump family had anything to do with the people who set up that gallows. Nobody from the Trump campaign or Trump organisation had anything to do with the guys who showed up with bullhorns.

"The J6 garbage is so tired. The Democrats use it as their excuse for everything."

Offering his verdict on Biden's step back from the election, McCabe claimed: "What we saw was Joe Biden was the president. He wanted to stay the president, and he wanted to be the nominee, which he won in the in the process with the Democratic donors.

"And President Obama decided he had to go. And so he succumbed to that pressure."

In defence of Biden, CEO of Global Situation Room Johanna Maska argued that although the president would find another term "too taxing", he is "more than capable" of being commander-in-chief until November.

Maska told GBNA: "I saw him at Nato, and he did actually command the room in a better way than I thought he was going to.

"The trouble was, he misspoke so many times with unintentional gaffes. It was clear he knew who he was speaking about when he was talking about Zelensky, he just happened to say Putin."

Maska added: "He is still in command of the facts, but he will not have that capability forever. We are all perishable fruit.

"Right now he is absolutely capable of the job of commander in chief, but four more years would be too taxing, and I am grateful that he's passing the torch."
