The US President faced questions from his national security team in the Oval Office

US President Joe Biden has encountered another blunder during a press conference, as he appeared to struggle to read from pre-written cue cards.

Receiving a briefing from his national security team at the Oval Office, Biden spoke on matters including the border wall in Mexico and Ukraine.

This follows the Biden administration approving the build of a new section of border wall in southern Texas, in an effort to stop rising levels of immigration.

Biden said of the wall: "I'm going to answer one question on the border wall. The border wall, where money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to re-appropriate to redirect that money. They didn't.

"They wouldn't. And in the meantime, there's nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what is appropriate. I can't stop that.''

When asked if the border wall works as a whole, Biden simply said "no".

The US President was then joined by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force, General Charles Q. Brown Jr, in the Oval Office of The White House.

Biden began by praising the work of Brown, saying: "It's great to have you here. Your experience in combat and your experience in administering at the Justice at the Defence Department and your leadership in just about every theatre.

"You’ve been around the world, as they say, as a commander. And you’re a trusted leader of the Joint Force, and you’re accelerating the change we need, both in terms of materiel and in terms of the strategies.

"And, C.Q., your insight and counsel, we’re looking for. The Secretary of Defence has been bragging about you a long time and so has the head of the CIA. So, we’re going to get going."

Turning the conversation to the US efforts in defence, Biden discussed Brown's work on the intelligence matters of Ukraine, Iran and North Korea.

Biden said: "And, today, we’re going to discuss the intelligence matters that are current. You know, you’ve kept current on all of these, I know.

"But we’re going to discuss Ukraine, Iran, the DPRK, and also our continued advancement of stability in the Indo... the Indo-Pacific and that whole area.

Biden concluded: "So, anyway, there’s a lot we have to do.

"And I just wanted to welcome you and thank you for being here. That’s why we let the press in here for this. We usually don’t have them in for the PDB. But, welcome."
