An attorney from Colorado hit out at Trump after his ballot removal

A Colorado lawyer has slammed former president Donald Trump after the the Colorado Supreme Court ruled against him.

The court implemented Section 3 of the US Constitution's 14th Amendment for the very first time blocking Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot.

The court ruled 4-3 to remove Mr Trump, citing his involvement in the 6 January insurrection in 2021.

Former US President Donald Trump has since said that he considers indictments against him "a badge of honour".

Attorney for Petitioners in Colorado 14th Amendment Case, Eric Olson spoke to GBN America and said that the indictment is a "victory for democracy."

Talking to Patrick Christys, he said: "We have a process for picking justices in Colorado that is bipartisan. Just because a Democrat governor appointed these justices, they were chosen by bipartisan Commission of qualified justices in our state.

"It is a victory for democracy and the rule of law, not a partisan victory. Our clients are Republicans and independent.

"They want a chance to participate in an election that is fair among qualified candidates so their Republican voices can be heard in our election."

Patrick then asked the attorney: "Is it that people are just afraid of Trump running again?

"You know he's leading the polls from what I can gather against Biden in pretty much every single capacity. Is this not just the blocking of the person that the people want?"

The Lawyer disagreed with this statement and explained: "Not at all. This is enforcing the rule of law in our Constitution. Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection.

"It was his anti democratic effort. He lost the election but nonetheless did everything he could, including inciting a violent mob on the Capitol, to stay in power."

Patrick then asked him if he "genuinely believed that" and Olsen said: "The evidence at trial was overwhelming, that it was violent. We had two police officers testify.

"Their head was smashed by one. Another was attacked with a spear."

When asked if the attacks were "aided and abetted by members of your own Security Service" Olsen said: "Donald Trump had a full and fair opportunity to make these arguments at court. He chose not to do so.

He did not call anyone to dispute the nature of the violent attack on the Capitol. These are questions that the court looked at and rejected."
