Tory MPs Nick Fletcher and Brendan Clarke-Smith have called on young people to take more responsibility if they are to achieve success.

The pair spoke to GB News’ Darren Grimes and blasted the “victim horde” while speaking about the message being delivered at the ARC (Alliance for Responsible Citizenship) Conference.

They also served up praise for psychologist Jordan Peterson who delivered a keynote speech at the conference.

Discussing whether Britain can be a “catalyst for change”, Clarke-Smith told GB News the country has done it before.

Speaking on the conference’s atmosphere, he said: “It’s completely opposite to all the doom and gloom that we keep feeding people at the moment.

“I think we’ve got a fantastic future in this country and if people do take personal responsibility, they can be in charge of their future and they can have a wonderful life.”

Asked by Grimes about those pushing a “degrowth” agenda, Clarke-Smith said those pushing the narrative are “about victim horde and identity politics”.

Nick Fletcher told Grimes that young men are particularly disenfranchised, and praised psychologist Jordan Peterson for having a “positive message” for the demographic.

“It puts that message that if you try hard, you can succeed”, he said.

“I think a lot of young people especially are wanting a mentor to look up to and not one that’s like Andrew Tate.

“Jordan Peterson fills that gap. It’s what is desperately needed. I’m actually asking for the Minister of Men and Boys because I think we’re leaving young boys behind.”

The pair concluded by suggesting a the Conservative Party would function more effectively as a Government should people respond to the “positive” message.

“You need to get out there and do things for yourself”, said Fletcher.

“Work hard, look after the people around you and we will try and take away the barriers that we’ve created over the last five to six decades.

“We will try and take away those barriers and reward you with low taxes and a fantastic economy.”

The pair added that Cabinet ministers will be present at the conference, and could therefore heed the sentiments being put forward.
