SNP MPs have been mocked after suggesting Glasgow is not in Scotland.
Two prominent SNP MPs wrongly claimed that the UK Government was planning to move jobs out of Scotland, in since deleted posts on X.
Alison Thewliss and Hannah Bardell were accused of "making a fool of themselves" after they were forced to retract their remarks.
Their furious posts on social media came after it was announced that civil servants working for the FCDO in Scotland would be moving into new offices in Glasgow.
The separatists claimed that the Better Together promise to keep jobs north of the border had been broken.
Bardell, MP for Livingston, wrote on X: "Awful decision, so UK Tory Gov simultaneously pulling out resources and jobs from Scotland and telling us we can't have our own abroad.
"Aye ok, wasn't this one of their flagship 'better together' arguments?? Load of nonsense, Scotland will be vastly better off independent."
Thewliss, MP for Glasgow Central, added: "Yet another Better Together promise evaporates - over 1000 highly skilled civil service jobs in East Kilbride set to go as the FCDO leaves town."
Meanwhile SNP activist Olaf Stando said: "'Vote No to keep the Foreign Office jobs in Scotland.' It was always nonsense anyway because an independent Scotland would have its own foreign office. But now this - another 2014 'Better Together' campaign bites the dust."
All three tweets were quickly deleted after it was pointed out that the jobs were not being pulled from Scotland completely.
Reacting to their remarks, Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser said: "Oh dear. Hannah doesn’t know that Glasgow is in Scotland.
"What on Earth has happened to the once-feared SNP spin machine? Now a laughing-stock.
"MPs & activists making fools of themselves tonight claiming FCDO jobs are leaving Scotland, when they are moving to GLASGOW."
Thomas Kerr, Tory councillor for Glasgow hit out at Thewliss for ignoring the fact that jobs are coming to Glasgow, her constituency.
He said: "Local MP for Glasgow Central complains that jobs are being relocated to, eh ... Glasgow Central.
"Given Alison's separatist plans would sack all these workers, I'd maybe sit this one out. The quicker these chancers are booted out of office, the better."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Posting after she deleted her tweet, Bardell said: "Learned a valuable lesson tonight about tweeting when tired, and not wearing my {glasses emoji}.
"Thanks to those kind souls who ‘politely’ pointed out my error…"
