Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle took a thinly veiled swipe at Rishi Sunak for missing Prime Minister's Questions yesterday.
Sunak missed yet another weekly despatch box bout with Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer to attend the Nato summit in Vilnius.
Speaking ahead of the Prime Minister's Nato update to MPs, the Commons Speaker said: "Before I call the Prime Minister, may I say how pleased I am to see him in the House?
"I hope we will see more statements made in the House first. I am sure we can work together on that."
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden stepped in for Sunak yet again to take on deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner.
The pair locked horns in the Commons the week previous as Sunak and Starmer attended a service held to mark the National Health Service's 75th birthday.
However, Hansard has revealed Sunak has missed the largest percentage of Prime Minister's Questions of any inhabitant of Number 10 at 19 per cent.
Sir John Major and Gordon Brown recorded the next highest absentee rate, with the pair missing 12 per cent of sessions.
