A Conservative Councillor has demanded a change in legislation to enable political representatives to be sacked immediately if they are convicted or plead guilty to a crime.
The demands follow the scandal surrounding ex-senior aide to Wes Streeting - Sam Gould - who pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure involving a 13-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman.
Despite his dismissal from Streeting's office, he remains a councillor in Redbridge, sparking outrage from political opponents and concern for his victims.
Councillor Paul Canal has called for powers to sack parliamentary figures 'immediately' after being convicted or pleading guilty

Speaking to GB News, Councillor Paul Canal, Leader of the Redbridge Conservative Group, has raised serious concerns about Gould's position of trust.
Canal stated: "He's was not just a caseworker for Wes Streeting, he was Wes Streeting's constituency office manager.
"He's been talking to vulnerable women over many, many months - are there more concerns we should actually have? I think there should be an investigation into who he's spoken to and what he's actually done."
Hitting out at current legislation, Canal has criticised the preventions in Gould's immediate dismissal, and other councillors in similar cases.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Gould was a former senior aide to Wes Streeting, who has condemned his crimes as 'appalling'
PACanal fumed: "It's simply outrageous, and the law doesn't allow us to sack him at this stage. He's being sentenced on April the 7th, and at that point, he'll be put on the sex offenders register - that means immediate disqualification.
"But he should, in all conscience, resign straight away. Once he was charged and he should have walked away."
Expressing concern for Gould's victims, Canal stressed that his victims, in particular the 13-year-old, will be "traumatised" by the ordeal he has put her through.
He told GB News: "I will directly say to the people who suffered and were the victims of this behaviour, I'm so sorry for what's happened. That young schoolgirl will be traumatised.
Canal told GB news that what Gould has done is 'hideous' and 'horrific'

"It's simply, simply wrong - as a father and grandfather, I'm completely horrified at what's happened."
Concluding his stance on Gould's position in Government, Canal called for stronger powers to remove councillors who plead guilty to serious offences.
He concluded: "What he's done is hideous, and he's facing, I suspect, a custodial sentence, because there are two separate incidents, but that won't change how that young girl feels.
"We should have the power, if you're convicted or you plead guilty, we should have the power to sack you. My ratepayers should not be paying money to him at this stage, it's simply wrong."
