A Royal Navy veteran has hit out at Labour for "letting down" Britons as household bills are set to surge for millions from today - dubbed "Awful April".
Annual bills for households are going up on average to £1,849 per year, an increase of £111, as Ofgem’s latest energy price cap takes effect.
Speaking to GB News, Royal Navy veteran and former Submariner Paul Noble detailed the impact of Awful April on his finances, and how he's going to try and have to to budget to try and survive over the next few months.
Noble told GB News reporter Sophie Reaper: "I got a £20 wage increase for my pension, and then automatically the next day I got a letter from Hartlepool Council that they've raised my council tax by £20.

"It's like robbing Peter to pay Paul. And it seems to be happening with all the bills."
When asked by Sophie if he feels veterans are being looked after by the Labour Government, Noble claimed that although is "proud" to have served his country, veterans are "not looked after at all" by the Government.
Noble explained: "I'm very proud of being in the Royal Navy and submarines, a veteran. But I don't think they'll look after us at all. Nothing.
"I've known veterans who live on the streets, and yet the Grand Hotel's just opened and is full of immigrants, and they get £30 a day, seven days a week."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Expressing his frustration at the Government's efforts to house migrants over homeless veterans, Noble told GB News that the Labour Government has "let down" Britons in this country.
He stated: "I think there's something wrong with the Government at the moment, and we're just being let down."
In a direct plea to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour Government, Noble asked for veterans to be "looked after a bit more", especially with household bills hiking so rapidly.
Noble said: "I'd just like to see veterans looked after, supported by what they've done for the country. That's basically that's all it is, nothing else. Just to be looked after a bit more."
