Gen Z backs Reform: Shock polling shows Reform overtaking Tories among 18-24 years old

Since announcing his return to front-line politics as leader of Reform UK, Farage's party has climbed the polls.
A YouGov survey found that Reform has overtaken the Conservatives in the polls for the first time prompting Farage to declare: "We are now the opposition."
Interestingly, the same national poll found Reform is also more popular among the 18 to 24 age group than Sunak's party.
The YouGov poll shows the Tories stand at 7 per cent of the vote share among the 18 to 24 age group, while Reform UK hold over double the vote share at 15 per cent.

The survey, released on June 11, used a new methodology polling between 1000 and 2000 British adults.
Reform UK is also leading in the 25 to 49 age group at 15 per cent while the Tories sit at 12 per cent.
In the 50 to 64 age category Reform lead at 22 per cent while the Tories have dropped to 16 per cent.
However, in the over 65s age group the Conservatives are leading at 34 per cent while Reform lags at 23 per cent.
Across all parties, Labour is the most popular party among 18 to 24 year olds with 41 per cent of the vote share from the young voters.
Reform UK has been using social media to garner attention and support from younger voters.

As presenting himself as a figure of fun on the internet, Farage has seen a rise in clicks, shares, likes and comments across social media channels.
Since the general election was called, Farage has been viewed on TikTok ten million times with the Reform UK official account garnering a further three million views.
Following his recent surge in the polls, Farage posted a TikTok singing the lyrics to Eminem's rap: "Guess who's back, back again?"
Within one hour, the post had 17.6k likes and 597 comments as users praised the candidate's sense of humour.
While Farage garners support from TikTok, whose user base is predominantly Gen Z and millennials, across the rest of the internet Reform is also doing well.

On YouTube, Farage's videos have been played more than Labour and the Conservatives combined at 691k views since the start of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Labour have seen 575k views and the Conservatives drag behind with 75k views.

On Facebook- a platform whose audience ranges from students to middle-aged adults- Reform and Farage's posts have been shared 53,000 times, ahead of the Tories at 31,000 and Labour at 20,000.
Reform's press officer insisted that the party doesn't have a digital strategy and simply posts what they think is funny or what makes them angry.
Gawain Towler said: "We’re not doing it with a 27-person committee that decides on the messaging six months before time. If we see something that’s funny, we say so. If we see something that makes us angry, we’ll say so.”
