GB News members were asked whether they think it's time for Labour to U-turn on the farmers inheritance tax

British farmers are set to descend on Parliament today in a mass protest against new inheritance tax rules they warn will destroy family farms.

The demonstration, dubbed "The Battle for Britain", aims to fight Government plans that protesters claim will force generations-old farms to be sold off to cover tax bills.

The protest is backed by Farmers to Action, Britain's second-largest farm group, and the Together Association, representing hundreds of thousands of members.

Nigel Farage, who will attend the protest, warned: "This tax will hit family-run farms whose incomes are incredibly modest. But it isn't just about income - for them, it's a way of life."

From April 2026, a new £1million cap will be imposed on tax-free inheritance, with amounts above this threshold taxed at 20 per cent.

The National Farmers Union says 66 per cent of UK farms are worth over £1million, putting them in line for the tax.

NFU president Tom Bradshaw warns the changes protect wealthy landowners with "a few acres let out for grazing" while penalising active food producers.
