A Reform UK-Conservative merger “must happen” for Labour to be ousted in favour of a right-wing government in Britain.
That is the view of Mohamed Amersi, a tycoon who has pumped thousands of pounds into the Conservative Party.
He told GB News that his “dream ticket” would be Nigel Farage’s populist party linking up with the Tories, and it should happen sooner rather than later.
Amersi paid £25,000 to be granted access to a Reform UK fundraiser dinner, and Martin Daubney asked if this was him turning his back on the Conservative Party after years of support.

“I come from the world of business where optionality has enormous value and in order to understand what somebody is actually doing, you need to be at least putting your toe in the water”, he said.
“My £25,000 donation to attend the dinner was to see how Farage and his team is performing, what is their view on the UK economy and what is their view on world positioning and whether Farage is electable.

Amersi told Martin that his impression of Farage was a favourable one.
“The Farage I knew and saw helping Boris Johnson win Brexit is a very different Farage to the one I see now”, he said.
“The Farage I see now, at this dinner and at the Trump inauguration is a different Farage. I think he has become more of a statesman and he really understands what it would take to put the great into Great Britain and give the British people what they richly deserve.

“I think he has got his act together now. My dream ticket would be eventually some sort of merger, it must happen. If it doesn’t happen through choice, it will happen through necessity.
“In my world, you can never really negotiate a good deal when it is out of necessity. It would be far better for this to happen when it is out of choice.
“We have one year to make this happen.”

Richard Harpin, who gave the Tories nearly £850,000 in 2024 according to Electoral Commission records, has told the party he will donate no more.
According to the Guardian, the move will result in the closure of the party’s northern HQ.
Asked about Harpin’s decision on GB News, Amersi said it shows the Tories need to rebuild.
“They have to regroup and rethink where they are and where they need to go”, he said.
“They need to orchestrate proper policies that will make them a winnable party. They have not been doing that effectively.
“There also needs to be a clean-up of CCHQ (Conservative Campaign Headquarters) because it’s a money drain and also the party’s board and fundraising mechanisms need to be cleaned up completely to make them fit for purpose.
“Confidence in the party is very low. Reform appears to have the edge in terms of populism, in terms of policymaking and support. If the Tories don’t watch out, there could be a four-way race for the next election between them, Reform UK, the Lib Dems and Labour, where nobody wins and we get into coalition politics of the like we have never seen.
“I am really worried the Tories have lost their way.”
