Asked by host Patrick Christys to give his analysis on the developing situation, Gardiner responded with a wry smile and a few seconds of silence.
The response sparked laughter among his fellow panellists and the live studio audience as Gardiner went onto discuss the grubby games that are often played in Westminster.
“Political parties have disagreements because they have people with strong opinions and sometimes, they try and stitch each other up”, he said.

“Listen, I know. I have been stitched up. I don’t know another politician who has had five pages in the Mail on Sunday for walking along the beach hand in hand with my own wife.
“That was a scandal. I know what it is to stitch people up. It has happened to me, it happened with the China thing. I have sued people like Rupert Lowe has threatened to do.

Barry Gardiner said he would not 'kick a man while he's down'

“In this country, you are innocent until you are proven guilty. These accusations should be investigated but you are innocent until you are proven guilty.
“The truth is, it can be tough being a politician and getting it in the neck a lot of the time. I am not going to kick a man while he is down.”
The now-suspended MP has been reported to police over alleged threats of physical violence against the party’s chairman Zia Yusuf.
The Great Yarmouth MP faces serious accusations from the party's leadership.
In a joint statement, Reform UK chairman Zia Yusuf and chief whip Lee Anderson said they felt "obligated to disclose" the situation.
The statement revealed that complaints had also been made about "serious bullying" in Lowe's parliamentary and constituency offices.
The statement claimed "evidence was provided to us of workplace bullying, the targeting of female staff who raised concerns, and evidence of derogatory and discriminatory remarks made about women".
This included "reference to a perceived disability", according to Yusuf and Anderson.
Two female employees made the complaints, with one working in Lowe's Parliamentary office and the other in his Constituency office.
The party leaders said they understood that "complaints have been made to Parliamentary authorities".
Reform UK said they felt they had "a duty of care to all our staff, whether employed directly or indirectly".
Lowe has strongly denied the allegations made against him by the party leadership.
Writing on social media, he described the accusations as "untrue and false".
He added that he was "disappointed, but not surprised" to read the allegations.
The MP has not provided further details about his response to the specific claims of bullying or the alleged threats against the party chairman.
