Lindsay Hoyle demanded MP Chris Law use different language after he said the Tories and Labour were 'two sides of the same a**e'

Lindsay Hoyle stopped PMQs to reprimand SNP MP Chris Law, after he made a foul-mouthed snipe at the Tories.

In a question to the Prime Minister, Chris Law accused the Tories and Labour of being 'two sides of the same a**e'

The Commons Speaker interrupted the MP, demanding he "think about language".

He called for Law to be "more temperant", adding: "Let's make sure that this Parliament can be proud".

Law was asking Sunak about the Government's 'bedroom tax' policy, and the two child benefit cap, which he described as "cruel".

The SNP MP said: "Every year the SNP Scottish Government mitigates against the cruelest of Westminster policies, by spending £84 million pounds supporting hard working families against the brutal bedroom tax and over £6.2 million covering the two child benfit cap.

"Astonishingly Mr Speaker, we have learnt over the summer the Leader of the Oppolsition is an enthusiastic supporter of these cruel welfare policies, with U-turn after U-turn from the Labaour party.

"Given that the Tories and Labour are two cheeks of the same a**e, offering no change, no vision, no hope, does the PM agree that the only way scottish voters can rid themselves -"

Hoyle interrupted Law, to reprimand him on his language, saying: "Let's think about language. Can we be more temperant and lets make sure that this parliament can be proud - the pride of this parliament will shine through - but certainly not using language."

Law responded: "Happy to change the offending word with bottom", before continuing on his tangent.

He said: "Given that the tories are two cheeks of the same bottom, offering no change, no vision, no hope, does the Prime Minister agree that the only way Scottish voters can rid themselves of these heinous policies is to vote SNP to leave Wesmtinster forever?"

Responding to the question, Sunak said: "Obviously not. I think the thrust of that quesrtion was directed at the leader of the opposition, i dont want to get in the middle of that."

Today's PMQs saw Sunak clash with Starmer over the concrete crisis which is causing schools across the UK to crumble.

Starmer asked the Prime Minister to commit to publish requests from the Department for Education for the School Rebuilding Programme, as well as publishing "what risks he was warned of before he turned them down".

But Sunak claimed the National Audit Office's report into Labour's School Rebuilding programme found that it "excluded 80 per cent of schools".

The report also said that Labour's programme was a third more expensive than it needed to be, "needlessly wasting resources that have gone to schools"

Sunak added: "The worst part was that that programme only allocated funds on the basis of ideology, with no regard whatsoever to the physical condition of schools.

He said that the independent review described the programme as "time consuming and expensive", adding: "Just like the Labour party".

Sunak went on to say: "I know he comes here with his prepared scripts, but he hasn't listened to a single fact about the record amount of funding going into schools, about the incredible reforms to education impacting the most disadvantaged children in our society, a record that we are rightly proud of."
